Morally, I think we all are responsible for innocent children when wecan help them anyway. I think states like Tennessee and Alabama have donethe right thing, for example, by passing laws requiring children to bein some sort of seat restraint in moving cars. All too often one sees littlechildren standing, let alone sitting, on the front seat of cars with theirheads particularly vulnerable to injury during a crash or even a suddenstop. There may be some question of liberty about requiring adults to havetheir seat belts fastened, but surely no adult has the right to flagrantlyrisk the life of an innocent child, even (or especially) if that childis his/her own.
