Dear Abhishek, thanks for your comments. Why hasn’t there been any further human missions to the moon since 1972? I’d hoped the article was clear that before even Apollo 11 landed the Apollo landing missions were to end with Apollo 20. This was not the original plan which was to continue regular and increasingly elaborate missions throughout the 1970s (see for an idea of how the future looked from the mid-1960s), but NASA’s budget was repeatedly cut until the program ended with Apollo 17. There has been no other missions because of the huge cost and lack of public and political interest in lunar exploration.
